6U RAL9005 20.6"-23.6" Switch Depth
1. Package engineering is superb, having just enough protection to allow the FedEx guy to purposefully drop the box on the road prior to gently bringing it inside. Kudos to the package engineer!
2. It's clear the network guy and the fabricator guy worked long hours on the RAL9005. It's features are truly useful and this is built to protect and last, even from the typical abuse of office users. The small lockable door up top for access to network device front panels and patch panels is my fave. The space built around the rack for cable routing inside the enclosure is perfect. The 120mm grills in the bottom work well with the AC-RRF7 (sorry NP, I needed the quieter version from AC Infinity than your AC-powered fans for this application). A reversible door--y'all need to advertise that! The steel supports under the door are also ingenious, to counteract the inevitable abuse this will get. And, keeping the top plugged up with grommets (as shipped) will certainly help my application, as coffee spilled on switches makes for a bad day, and they've got to be working the coffee pretty hard to splash a switch in this enclosure!
3. Possible improvements over this design only include wishes, not requirements: the bottom of the main door is ample space for a container or lock box option (which would reduce the length available for the fifth and sixth units). A third cutout area in the middle of the back for access to premise wiring would have been super for my application. I personally prefer cage nuts over threaded holes on a rack--a cage nut option on those detachable pieces in the RAL9005 would be nice.
